When recently asked to speak about “soul-care” to a mom group I’m part of, I was all, count me in; but when I sat to write the talk, admittedly, I thought: wait, what's soul-care?
I can easily roll around in the topic of self-care, which certainly can be soulful. But soul-care, as lingo, was new to me, and I didn't trust Google to define it for me.
So I set out to define the difference between the two in my own mind. And the more I considered self-care, the more I realized that as a category, it covers a lot of ground. Maybe too much ground. So introducing soul-care into the mix strikes me as brilliant, because the category of ‘care’ is in need of some delineation.
Now I love a good analogy. So I'll define the terms using a house.
Self-care is like maintaining your house: painting the exterior, fixing a leaky pipe, replacing lights with energy efficient bulbs, decluttering a space, planting flowers. All important for the integrity and preservation of the house, and we feel better and happ…
