In a recent interview*, Jerry Seinfeld was asked: “How has having kids changed your life?”
Jerry chuckled, and asked if the interviewer had kids. (He didn’t.) Jerry went on to say something like, That’s like me asking you: how has having a body changed your life? …From when you were just a spirit to having a body, how has that body of yours changed your life? (The interviewer self-consciously laughed.)
In all seriousness, Jerry went on to say: “Kids are the greatest show on Earth.” And he said that his favorite thing to do is experience his kids become the humans they are becoming.
My feelings exactly.
What Jerry implied, but didn’t say, is that part of the fulfillment of watching the kids’ show is that it’s not just entertainment at face value; their show has this dynamic power to inspire our continued growth as well.
For instance, I can pinpoint three specific moments of my own inner growth just this past week because of my kids’ respective shows.
