At thirteen, my oldest son decided to grow his hair to shoulder length - his little rebellion. He had gorgeous hair, but I wasn’t on board with it at all. I didn’t say a word. I was counting on his friends and hockey teammates to do that. And they did.

As the mother of a budding teenager, pick your battles!

I showed the story to Patch. He got a bog kick out of it.

Funny—we have the grandkids with us this weekend and our grandson (age 11) found a picture of his mother with candy-apple red hair and was appalled. We explained that this was a “phase” she went through, and he tried to understand. I could tell he was getting it at some level—that he had a sense that teens go through phases, even his mother.

Soooooo sweet and inspiring. We never grow up, it seems. I have said often to my kids, "none of us know what we are doing!" And that little voice...the one that says to NOT get the buzz cut. oof. How many times don't we listen and wish we would have. Loved this. xx
